CATARACT CANYON DAY 2

November 12, 2008

Day 2

This was are first full day on the the river and there is a lot to be said about entering a canyon from the beginning. As you float free down the Green River from Green River Utah you start out floating through the desert plains and as you approach Ruby Ranch the Sand Stone Landscapes begin to appear on both sides of the river. The Navajo Sandstone across from the Ruby Ranch is very impressive where it pokes up through the desert farm lands that is Southern Utah. There were Geese on the river congregated in a large group near the Confluence of the San Rafael and Green Rivers. There were about 300 of them and they all flew of the water at the same time which was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. We camped on river right at Trin Alcoves at mile 9. Great Canyon but not the best camp in the canyon, it was fine for a small group meaning just two guys having a good time! HAHA!!!!
