CATARACT CANYON DAY 3

November 13, 2008 Day 3

We woke up on the morning of the third day to 32 degrees and blue sky. We went on a hike up Trin Alcove Canyon and when we got back to the boat at 11 am camp was still in the shade. It is crazy when you want sun in November all you can find is shade and in June through August all you want is shade and all you can find is sun.FOOD SCARE, FOOD SCARE!!!! For some reason there was a food Scare on day 3, We didn't buy enough sweets(COOKIES) so all of the sudden we were treating cookies and chocolate like they were gold. One for you and one for me. The rest of day 3 was uneventful until we got to the River Register at mile 77.5 which was definitely one of the highlights of the trip.
One of my Favorites is of the dam breaking and flooding the canyon.
Then we saw the Dennis Julien Inscription at mile 74.4 on river left.
We camped at mile 72.7 on an island. It was about 30ish degrees when we went to bed at 8 pm. We ate Clam Chowder for dinner and had Graham Crackers and Hersey's Chocolate to we were sick. I also ate Marshmallows, it was good!
